Davin at his School Christmas Concert (without microphone)

We went to see the lights at Temple Square last weekend, even in the snow! The kids had never been before and it was fun to see them so excited. I'm not sure if they liked the lights or tromping around in the snow better. We took the Trax train in the free zone and the kids thought that was pretty cool too. The lights were amazing, and I always love the reflection pools.
I asked Nathan if he liked the lights and he nodded his head, I asked him if he liked riding the train and he nodded his head and then he added, "And Jesus!" What a sweet little kid!! He must have liked seeing the Christus in the visitor's center. Way to keep us focused, Nathan!
The next day we went to my family Christmas party at my Grandparent's home. My Grandma had it the week before Christmas just for us because we always miss it! We did a brief production of the Nativity, the boys were the three wise men of course, and then we sang Christmas Carols and ate treats. It was a lot of fun! I always love catching up with my cousin Melissa and I love hearing my family sing. It wasn't until I found out my 3 boys were on top of the pool table using the pool cues as golf clubs that I wasn't having fun anymore! They think of the craziest things to do! I try desperately to raise boys who are respectful and kind and who's main goal in life isn't utter destruction!! We had a lot of fun besides that. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for everything! We love you!
Davin performed in the Elementary Christmas concert and did an awesome job. My friend kindly saved us seats so we could see (thank you, thank you!) but to my dismay, when the kids came out, Davin had a huge microphone in front of his face! No matter how I tried to move, it was still there! Arghhhhh! I was so frustrated, but he still looked darling and it was a lot of fun!
I always love this time of year but no matter what it tends to be a kind of stressful time. I always want to make wonderful gifts and hand-made cards. I really enjoy doing these things for those of you that think I'm just crazy. Well, this year I was so annoyed when my letters got sent back because I tied a ribbon around part of the card that made it "non-machinable" and therefore cost more postage! (As if 42 cents wasn't sufficient so send just about any card!!) I worked it out with the post office but I apologize if you got my card late. The other thing that I could not stand was the HUGE grammatical error in my Christmas letter ! (stop laughing Mindy) I had re-read it so many times that I can't believe I never caught it. I must have changed the sentence structure and never got back to editing it. Anyway, the perfectionist in me cringed as I sent them out but I just couldn't handle re-copying them all either. I hoped that most of you missed it, but for the critics and editors among you, I'm so sorry! Anyway, I hope that among all the mishaps I can laugh about it and realize why we really celebrate this season anyway. I hope that I can remember our Savior like Nathan and be giving and generous and teach my kids the same. Someday all the "things that went wrong" will be hilarious, or maybe they already are. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!

Great pictures of our fun night Am! I swear your camera takes better pictures - or is it the person behind the camera - well, then it's hopeless! See you Christmas Day!

Oh, you're so cute Am. Nathan is such a DOLL!!! I can just see him saying "and Jesus!" He really is such a sweet boy. Don't worry too much about the grammatical error in your Christmas letter, any one who knows you at all would know it was obviously a mistake. I didn't know about the pool table incident! Good thing they're cute! :) Love you and can't wait to see you soon!

Ok I'm really tired right now so if this doesn't all come out right that is why. I guess mishaps must help us hold on to memories, if everything always went perfect it would get really boring to look back on the same old time after time. And honestly can I just cry for a second!!! I opened your page and still still still was playing, and then reading about little Nay nay reminding us, "and Jesus" I swear it is the first time this month I really felt that Christmas feeling! I don't maybe I'm so sleep deprived I'm overly emotional but hey, whatever works. I love you and can't wait to see you guys this week!!!

I didn't even notice the mispell and I appreciated getting the card and newsletter. It is one of my favorite parts of this time of year. It sounds like you guys have had a fun week! I wish we would have been brave enough to endure the cold so we could see the lights. Maybe next year!
