25 Random Things About Me

I know you are just dying to know!

1. I have just re-discovered reading. I read the Twilight series after being coerced into it. I actually loved it (at least most of it) and am now having withdrawals and seeking other books to read.

2. I miss T.V. We have been called on a "mini-mission" by our bishop to not watch cable or satellite T.V. for 90 days. I know, it sounds nuts. At first I thought I was going to go crazy without shows for the kids, but they have adapted by re-discovering the joys of Lego's. Jas and I have been reading more and playing more games together. I still wish I could "veg" at night and just watch something, but as I'm sure you know, there isn't much worth watching anyway. So, I don't mind and am up for the challenge.

3. I am addicted to chocolate. I don't think a day goes by that I don't have some. If you add caramel to the equation, it's even better.

4. I love making cards and scrap booking. (Not that you could tell from my neglected scrapbooks at all) It allows me to be creative and feel like I've accomplished something without taking a lot of time.

5. I have identical twin boys, my mom is an identical twin and Jason's dad is a fraternal twin. I had no chance.

6. I have always wanted a daughter and have a hard time walking by the Easter dresses or Christmas dresses in the stores. It bothers me when people who do have daughters don't do their hair or dress them cute.

7. I love to sing. I surprised my friends by letting them listen to one of the songs I recorded with one of Jason's bands in college. Yes, it's true, I am a rock star.

8. I am terrified of anesthesia. I have never had an epidural. I know, you all think I'm nuts. I don't care. It makes me feel like superwoman.

9. I really hate doing laundry. No matter how much I do, there is always more. Downy is the only thing that gets me through.

10. I am a clean freak. I love having thing organized, labeled, sanitized and categorized. When Jason suggests we should just mix the blocks with the play food and the Lego's to pick up faster, I almost come un-glued!

11. I have a degree in Illustration. I have always wanted to illustrate Children's books. Right now, the most I do with my degree is paint canvas "decor" paintings for my friends kids rooms, or design the next take-out menu for the PG!

12. I have had fun reconnecting with friends on facebook. It can be very addicting, but not like chocolate. I think it's sort of "high school". I admit I am a little scared of it. I worry that my personal info is floating all around cyber-space, beyond what I have allowed. I still look at it anyway.

13. I hate my feet. I envy people with cute feet and toes that can wear cute strappy sandals. I am NOT a shoe girl.

14. I still love the 80's music. I am a nerd. No matter how much Erasure I listen to, I just can't hate it!

15. I have never been to another country outside the US besides Mexico & Canada. I hope to change that someday. I would love to visit France and Italy and somewhere really tropical. (especially right now)

16. To me there is nothing better than the smell of fresh cut grass, the taste of a ripe watermelon, the feel of cool water or warm sand on your feet, the sound of children's laughter or the sight of a breathtaking sunset at the end of a perfect summer day. I miss summer...

17. I am extremely far-sighted. (+8.50) I wear contacts every day and am pretty much blind without them. When I was little I would pray that when I woke up, I wouldn't need my glasses anymore.

18. The only good thing about winter is when the snow looks like glitter. It is so pretty.

19. I love to take photographs. There is something so fun about capturing a moment forever. I love it when you get a great picture that evokes a mood and seals a memory in your mind.

20. I like to vacuum and mow the lawn. I think there is a correlation. I like to see instant results from my efforts.

21. I love being a mom. There are still those days that I want to run away, but I am so blessed to have my kids. They teach me things every day. I would miss out on so many laughs and so much insight if I didn't have them. I am glad I am able to stay at home with them.

22. Did I mention I love summer? And Chocolate? And the smell of Oranges?

23. I love getting flowers. Some women think it's a waste to get flowers that will just die in a few days. I love the roses in my garden, but I absolutely love to get roses from the florist. (Hint, hint Jason)

24. I love my family. I have a wonderful relationship with my parents, siblings and grandparents. I don't know what I'd do without them.

25. I can't believe you really read this far... Now write 25 random things about yourself and post it. If you want to.

Will you come organize my house? I can't stand living in an unorganized pile, but with work and an 8 mth old I feel like accomplishing it would require not sleeping. You're amazing for being able to keep your house that way.
Oh and you're amazing for not watching TV. I can't live without TV!

It must bug you that I never do my girls hair. You can borrow their hair anytime! I also need to talk to you about doing some paintings for our baby boy's room.

Okay Amberly, it is very scary how much we are alike!
-I have never met anyone with as bad a prescription as mine (it is the whole reason for my eye surgery, so watch out- if you get a blind spot go in RIGHT AWAY).
-I only had one epidural (my last- and best, by the way). Didn't I tell you how to get a girl? I did it, you can too. Go girl, go!
-Chocolate is wonderful, and we'll leave it there.
-I have some great books for you to read if you are interested.
-I love facebook too- a little too much at first, but I am calming down.
-I have twin brothers- not my choice either. ; )
-I really want to hear your rock star song!
-I love your pizza gallery menus.
Very fun list!

I liked reading your 25 things, but the thought of writing up my own just sounds exhausting! I actually think I could do the no t.v. thing... when I used to travel for work even though I was all by myself I never turned it on. Oh, and I love chocolate too! Can't wait to see you guys! I guess it wasn't that long ago that we saw you last but this month has seemed like an eternity!

You are great. Let's go to mall and cry at all the little girl dresses, I know I still have a shot, but little girl things make me cry anyway! Yes you are blind, but you are the best blind artist out there! Love you, you rock star you!!!!!

I finished reading the Twilight series too! What did you think about Breaking Dawn?

You are "Amazing Amberly"!(Did you know that's what I call you?) And it is scary how many "alikenesses" we have, but you are truly a gifted person. So glad I'm related to you!

I could have written #10. I have an OCD personality when it comes to cleaning up and organizing the kids toys. My hubby always dumps whatever he can into whatever box is nearby and it makes me crazy. Each and every toy has a box and a place.

You sound like me. It was fun to hear all your 25 things. I'm impressed with your no TV thing. I keep hearing so many benefits of having your kids watch limited TV that I hope I can do something like that someday.
